If Chicago’s parks aren’t big enough, get your greenery fix a half-hour drive west of downtown. The Arboretum swells with 1,700 acres of woodlands, prairies, and walking/hiking trails. Plan for a half day, at least, in the Children’s Garden, a multilevel playground resembling the Swiss Family Robinson tree house.
