“Can you please pass the salt?” is about as lively and inquisitive as dinner conversation gets these days.
For a bit more flavor, try Eating Our Words, a new (free!) bimonthly event. Curated by poet/essayist Gabrielle Calvocoressi and gallerist/lifestyle blogger Heather Taylor, it brings together writers and culinary artists for an evening of food for thought, literally.
The first installment kicks off tonight at 7 p.m. at Taylor De Cordoba in Culver City. Dana Goodyear, a staff writer at The New Yorker and founder of online lit community Figment, will read poetry and nonfiction. Complementing this prose, Patricia Tsai will be on hand with her seasonal, stone-ground, bean-to-bar operation, ChocoVivo, for an in-depth and adventurous tasting of her small-batch offerings.
The coming months promise authors and intellectuals such as Reza Aslan and artisans including Full Moon Pickle’s Jen Smith. You’ll be back for seconds.
Taylor De Cordoba, 2660 South La Cienega Boulevard, between Venice and Washington Boulevards, Culver City (310-559-9156 or taylordecordoba.com). R.S.V.P. to email@example.com. For more information, go to facebook.com/eatingourwords.
