The new Fremont cycling boutique carries urbanite riding apparel (Nau jackets, Swims galoshes) and accessories (Billykirk’s handcrafted leather bags).
Why: May is Bike to Work month.
When: Opens Sat., 11 a.m. Regular hours, Tues.-Sat., 11 a.m.-6 p.m.; Sun., noon-5 p.m. Grand opening party, May 7, Fri., 5:30-8 p.m.

NOSH
The Independent Pizzeria Opens
What:
Munch on New York-meets-Naples-style pies at the window-laden Impromptu replacement overlooking Lake Washington.
Why: Airy, thin-crust slices topped with anchovies, capers, and Mama Lil’s hot peppers.
When: Wed.-Sat., 5-10 p.m.; Sun., 5-8 p.m.

GRAZE
Ballard Urban Picnic (BURP)
What:
Mobile eateries converge for a gourmet food fest with a movie screening (the Oscar-winning Up) at dusk.
Why: Parfait ice cream, Anita’s Crepes, Veraci Pizza, Dante’s Inferno Dogs, plus a Maritime Pacific Brewing Company beer garden.
When: Sat. Picnic, noon-9 p.m.; screening, dusk (around 8 p.m.).

Kentucky Derby Party
What:
Sip on Tavern Law mint juleps and watch the race on a 50-inch flat screen.
Why: Wear your jazziest Derby outfit (floppy hat, floral pumps) to win the Best Dressed prize.
When: Sat. Party, 2 p.m.-2 a.m.; race, 3-5 p.m.
