Between Fourth of July antics and impending Olympics fever, there’s no question your heart belongs to the good ol’ US of A. But an occasional Spanish fling never hurt anyone. Mix it up this summer with a pitcher of Pintxo’s simple sangria.
4 bottles inexpensive red wine
½ bottle dry vermouth
4 oz. homemade simple syrup (equal parts sugar and water)
1 cinnamon stick
1. Cut oranges and lemon into wedges; cut apple into bite-size pieces.
2. Mix all ingredients in a large carafe; cover and let sit at room temperature for two days to ferment.
3. When ready to serve, pour over ice and top with sparkling water.
