As a godfather of soul might say: Mama’s got a brand new bag.
And it’s the daddy of all totes.
Because Highway carryalls from Japan-born, NYC-based textiles designer Jem Leaf focus on form and function in equal measure.
Bags are crafted with Japanese nylons, leather, and coated canvas. They lay flat and have multiple pockets for easy access and storage (kind of like a fancy LeSportsac), which make them great for commuting.
Summer colors include warm orange, deep green, glossy red, and cool indigo. Purses come in mixed-tone fabrics with alternate-color zips. It’s not fancy, but the line’s nice and clean.
So slip one over the shoulder and throw a little hip into it.
Available at Click Design That Fits, 4540 California Avenue Southwest (206-328-9252 or clickdesignthatfits.com), $98-$188.
