The Kubota Garden
What: A manicured, twenty-acre Japanese garden full of exotic blossoms and local shrubbery originally cultivated by Fujitaro Kubota, who bought the land in 1927.
Why: Get outside, stretch your legs, and tour weeping Norway spruce, threadleaf cypress, and flowering pink magnolias.
When: Self-guided tours, daily, 6 a.m.-8 p.m. (maps available); guided tours (thru Oct.) on the fourth Sat. of every month at 10 a.m.

Holly Park Greenhouse and Nursery
What: More than 50 years old, the South End family-run institution has a lush, overgrown charm.
Why: Rows upon rows of familiar and exotic plant species, great prices on herbs, a wide range of collard greens, and Asian-inspired culinary finds such as shiso starts and bok choy seeds.

Tea or Cocktails at The Hunt Club and Fireside Room
What: Rest your legs, put down the shopping bags, and pick up a celebratory libation.
