When most retailers open a second location, they think big.

The ladies behind Cocoon Urban Day Spa went the other route with their petite new salon, Cocoon Bare, opening today in Oakland’s Rockridge hood.

Unlike their large SF location, this one has only two comfy treatment rooms, an airbrush tanning room, and a brow bar to experience the main attraction, expert threading. Owners Sarah Redmond and Merritt King swear by the highly effective hair removal process for those with sensitive skin (no skin pulling = no irritation).

Also on offer: facial and body waxing (including their version of the Brazilian, the Bare Cocoon) and post-defuzz retail therapy. Browse the front boutique for Colleen Mauer’s delicate gold and silver jewelry, lacy Mary Green skivvies, and Goorin Brothers hats. It’s a small selection with big appeal.
