Etsy can feel like a world populated by Tracey Flicks packing glue guns. But the locally made jewelry line Nous Savons is handcrafted at its very best.
The affordable statement pieces ($16-$64) from Oakland-based designer Jocelyn Nguyen blur the line between pretty and gritty (delicate chains, chunks of grosgrain ribbon, tongue-in-cheek pendants like the iconic Best Friends charm, split in two). Nguyen even transforms the lapels of a what she calls “awful, boring blazers” into structured necklaces connected by antique brass chains. Voila.
For spring, her inspirations (New World exploration, the Silk Road) shine through in one of her most striking pieces: a necklace made from goldenrod silk tassels that adds a touch of the exotic to everything from a white shirt to a flowy sundress. It’s crafty, yes, but beautifully so.
