Cheeseburger in Paradise

super duper burger in the castro!

We love an Animal-style Double Double as much as the next person, but sometimes, less is more.

At Super Duper, the new dineresque burger joint opening Monday in the Castro, there are just three patties to choose from: plain, cheese, or super (lettuce, tomato, cheese, red onions, housemade pickles), with the option to make any of them a double.

But basic doesn’t equal boring: Owner Adriano Paganini (of Beretta and Starbelly) has concocted a super-secret sauce that “may or may not include cognac” (and definitely includes housemade mayo) to coat the toasted flat-top buns. There are also chicken and portobello burgers and thick-cut fries, all served on retro-style aluminum trays. The minimalist booze options leave little room for confusion: two beers and a red and white wine, all on tap.

And for dessert, Straus soft-serve can be topped with confections such as pecan pie and bacon-and-chocolate chip cookies. Because when it comes to ice cream, more is where it’s at.

Super Duper, 2304 Market Street, at Noe Street (415-558-8123). Mention the DailyCandy Swirl on Monday or Tuesday to receive a free Straus soft-serve with any burger order.
