In another life, you’ll have an entire room dedicated to cheese.
Until then, get yourself to Gourmet & More. The sliver of a shop on Gough has French expats and gourmands of all stripes swooning for its hard-to-find imported edibles.
A tour of the shotgun-style space, whimsically adorned with vintage French signage, takes you to the confiserie (L’Artisan macarons, Petit Ourson candies), alimentation or general goods (Petit Suisse dairy favorites, frozen croissant dough), and a charcuterie station serving sandwiches worthy of any picnic along the Seine.
But the piece de resistance is the spot’s fully enclosed jewel box of a cheese room, where affable fromagers insist you try before you buy. With more than 200 options, it’s best to pace yourself.
BYO vin (with no corkage) to wash down your fromage finds on the back patio.
Are we in love? Bien sur.
