You may not be a surfer yourself, but you like to know where they hang out (duh).

Paddle, er, drive across the bridge to Proof Lab Surf & Skate Shop.

You’ve passed the roadside shop (an institution since before Point Break) on trips to Stinson, but the current owners moved much of the business to the warehouse behind it, creating one of the larger surf and skate shops in NorCal.

For those not so stoked on frigid, shark-infested waters, there’s plenty for you, too: In addition to boards and wet suits (all rentable), and Big Dog Surf Camp, the new space has sporty retail, a skate park (for impromptu yoga), and a music school. The adjacent community center, Grow, hosts classes by local artists (ceramics, sewing), a farm stand, and upcoming holiday events.

The original building remains Proof Lab Station, stocked with rugged brands like Carhart and Patagonia.

Which brings us to ski season.
