Bottle Cap’s Resume
Open in North Beach
Objective: Seeking placement in your dining repertoire.
Summary: Childhood friends (and the team who put Bruno’s on the map in the ’90s) Pete Gowdy, Dane Boryta, and Liz Ferro (Boryta’s wife) have transformed the previously defunct Washington Square Bar & Grill into an inviting new neighborhood spot, with sunny yellow and apple green walls, charming wallpaper accents, and a copper bar.
Education: Chef Boryta graduated from Sens; bar manager Gowdy has 23 years under his belt, with a master’s from Bourbon & Branch; Ferro has made the front of house her home turf for two decades.
Activities: Serving creative American bistro fare (mushroom and cheese pierogis, sweet chili-glazed pork chop, a Humboldt burger), concocting cocktails to write home about (classic and handcrafted, with barrel-aged spirits on deck this fall), and brunch and live music on the horizon.
