Animal Collective

Little animals are fluffy, adorable, and capable of listening without interrupting (unlike certain people).

They also scratch your couch, smell like the zoo, and crap in a box (hopefully, unlike most people).

The next time you’re obsessed with owning a groundhog, hedgehog, or whole hog, visit Shannon McLaughlin. She’ll satisfy your cute overload with her veritable pet shop of the most fetching of our animal kingdom — without litter pan, kibble, or fur balls attached.

The Roxborough-based artist draws sugar gliders, hamsters, llamas, and more on cross sections of trees with colored pencil and marker and adds accents like tiny bugs or flowers, but the pieces actually look like paintings. She’s taking orders for work from her April art opening now.

The quirky pieces are wonderful additions to anyone’s menagerie.

And don’t barf on the floor.
