You might have heard a tale or two about downsizing lately.
But Fishtown designer Margaux Kent has taken things to a positively lilliputian level.
Delightfully, Kent’s is a sweeter take on streamlining: Her new book necklaces are itty-bitty versions of the bigger journals she’s been creating for years.
First, she hand-binds sheets of archival paper between miniature antique leather covers. Then she dangles them from delicate chains. Each design is one of a kind and has a quirky title (e.g., The Tiniest Heraldic Device) and list of materials.
The tiny tomes are totally functional, so you can record random musings, phone numbers, or whatever else needs remembering.
Next up for Fried: a trip to Israel to collect supplies for her pieces.
And that’s no small feat.
