Cornering the Market

Pumpkin Market Opens

pump it up!

A trip to the bodega never seems healthy. Between the scaggy guy behind the counter and the monster bag of chips you end up with, you always feel weird.

Good thing South Street restaurant Pumpkin has expanded and now includes a tiny market stocked with good-for-you options. All produce is sourced locally, resulting in the most seasonal fruits and veg. (In case you missed the memo, heirloom tomatoes, donut peaches, and baby corn are far better temptations than cheese curls and malted marshmallow bars.)

Also on offer: treats like strawberry butter, lavender honey, Wild Flour Bakery bread. Plus the staff is friendly, helpful, and open to suggestions.

Now that’s worth leaving home for.
