Keeping a lid on it has never been our strong suit. But ever since we spotted Janessa Leone’s eponymous new hat line, we’re inclined to give it a shot.
For this debut, Leone’s take on the fedora is an amalgamation of all the designer’s favorite hats that have come before: scores from vintage thrift stores in Paris, Old Hollywood-era toppers, and primo pieces from her Italian-cum-Boston grandfather’s massive collection.
Switch the hatband, and the classic silhouette (a slightly rounded dome with wide-but-not-too-wide brim) goes from PCH bohemian to Bond Street worthy in a blink. Options include the Sorbonne (steel with cognac leather and vintage gold chain band, pictured), the Madeleine (black oak with Lady Amherst feathers), and the Elysée (a black number combining a bit of leather, feathers, and chain).
It’s pretty heady stuff.
