One of the more coveted items in all the land, born in your very own backyard, is now at your fingertips.
No, it’s not a face-value ticket to Burning Man (better luck next year); it’s local fashion designer Louisa Parris’s inaugural line of accessories.
The London native and Central Saint Martins grad blazed a stateside trail with her runway-gracing gowns, but her latest venture has made her iconic, bold designs more accessible than ever.
The airy scarves and made-to-order sculptural hats, designed in conjunction with friend and milliner Laela Barnard, evoke the graphic quality of the hot air balloons that inspired them. Silk twill scarves (cheekily named after sailing knots as a nod to their function) come in two sizes: standard, 35-inch squares and awesomely oversize, 50-inch squares.
You may miss the playa, but you can still get knotty.
Available at Rand and Statler, 425 Hayes Street, at Gough Street (415-634-0881); online at louisaparris.com, $265-$345.
