The impending Fashion Week has our creative juices flowing.
And despite semisuccessful attempts at tie-dye and bedazzling, we need a little help from Pins & Needles, a new UES sewing and needlework boutique and workshop.
Imagined as a go-to for virtually all stitching needs, P&N can fulfill any crafty neo-Luddite urge. Inspiration strikes just looking at the array of imported fabrics and ribbons and vintage quilt squares. Prefab sewing panels from Australia and contemporary how-to books will make projects even easier.
Take a group or individual class on headbands, bib necklaces (reimagined from vintage baubles you supply), aprons, patterns, and quilts. Since no experience is necessary, the possibilities are seemingly endless.
Start next Wednesday (February 2) with silky bloomers. Bubbly, macarons, and all materials for the demure-yet-sexy lingerie will be provided — as will bonus points if you bust them out at Lincoln Center.
Pins & Needles, 1045 Lexington Avenue, between 74th and 75th Streets, second floor (212-535-6222 or pinsandneedlesnyc.com). Call ahead to reserve your spot at one of DailyCandy’s exclusive bloomer classes next Wednesday (half-hour sessions 6-9 p.m.) Cost is $50.
