Hand-Knit Heart-Warmers

bebe ravi hand-knits!

On its own merit, a hand-knit baby sweater always touches your heart. But weave a story of women overcoming adversity into its threads and your heart is likely to burst.

Kenyan-turned-New Yorker Siamanda Chege created clothing and accessories line BébéRavi after witnessing the dire conditions of women in her native Kenya. Sparked by the country’s almost 40 percent unemployment rate and many families devastated by AIDS, she set about employing local women so they could provide better futures for themselves and their children.

The collection includes everything from baby gowns and rompers to toddler dresses and hats — all handcrafted from fine Italian merino wools and Egyptian cottons. Plus, a percentage of profits funds an orphanage founded by Chege.

Just one more thing to love.
