Another 4-year-old’s birthday party, another guitar-playing-balloon-animal-creating-fortune-telling-clown-meets-magician-who-also-cleans-up-after-the-bash. Insert yawn.
Just when you thought you’d seen it all, Sugar Couture rolls into town. Forget what you think you know about birthday confections and let artist Penny Stankiewicz create a “cake story” for your little reveler. Inspired by three themes or objects your child loves (say, soccer, Star Wars, and pizza), she constructs one magically delicious design.
Pick from cake flavors like chocolate, peanut butter, carrot, or red velvet. Fillings run the gamut from buttercream to ganache.
Our favorite: the finger paint cake, which is a blank “canvas” for the birthday boy and his guests to decorate themselves.
There’s nothing vanilla about it.
