Fashion-related conversations consist of three parts: lead in, dramatic pause, and punch line.
The lead in: You let everyone know you’re wearing something ridiculously hard to come by. (You like? Thanks. Limited-edition Proenza Schouler.)
Pause.
The punch line: Astound people with your thrift. (Eighteen bucks at the Jersey City Target!)
Cue squeals of awe. And so it goes.
Target’s launching Proenza Schouler’s springy line, and the designers, New Yorkers as they are, figured you’d rather not cross a river for it. So they asked beloved shop Opening Ceremony to host the collection. Just for the weekend.
From February 2 to 5, usual merchandise will be cleared to make room for racks of affordable sundresses, bikinis, and miniskirts, and dressing rooms will be decked like pool cabanas. (It’s a Hawaiian ’70s theme.)
Try it all on — then justify buying one of everything.
We know how that conversation goes.
Available at Opening Ceremony, 35 Howard Street, between Broadway and Crosby Streets (212-219-2688 or openingceremony.us).
