When it comes to sartorial philosophy, there’s business casual and there’s making casual your business.
Subscribe to the latter at The Hoodie Shop, opening today in the LES.
Brooklyn Bowl mastermind Peter Shapiro and retro music and clothing enthusiast Aleah Speranza cemented the idea for a hybrid hangout/store at an LCD Soundsystem concert (naturally) about a year ago. Since then, Speranza has culled together all things hooded from Australia, Europe, and the U.S.
Pick up leather jackets, blazers, soft cashmere loungers, vintage concert gems, backless cardigans, scarves, and even swimsuits. Rereleased vintage sunglasses by Oliver Goldsmith complete the cover-up.
Inside is a trip: Psychedelic blue, orange, and green feathers swirl on the walls, acid green sofas slouch into the floor, and ’60s and ’70s concert footage plays on a projection screen (but only when, say, Questlove isn’t spinning from the DJ booth behind it).
Feel free to get comfortable.
