In a city filled with heroes, hoagies, subs, and clubs, one misstep and you’re toast.
Which is why we’re excited about the newest member of the upper crust: I8NY, a sandwich stand run by Fatty Crab and Torrisi alum Jonathan Meyer and Lincoln vet William Griffin.
The menu is simple: just two ’wiches (roasted chicken with Jersey tomatoes and peppers on garlic bread, or grilled summer squash with ricotta, mint pesto, purslane, and pickled red onions) and grilled corn with smoky peach butter.
Beyond the bread, I8NY caters lunches and dinner parties like the one they’re cooking for Local Roots CSA this Sunday. Expect toast topped with bean and rosemary puree and whipped ricotta with sea salt; fresh egg fettuccine with pesto, roasted garlic, and summer squash; and red wine-braised short ribs with currants, turnips, carrots, and radishes.
No matter how you slice it, they’re on a roll.
Available on Saturdays at Smorgasburg, 27 North 6th Street, at Kent Avenue, Williamsburg (i8nyfood.com). Local Roots CSA dinner, Sunday, 7 p.m., 61 Local, 61 Bergen Street, between Boerum Place and Smith Street, Cobble Hill. Tickets ($35-$40) online at brownpapertickets.com.
