You’ve never searched for salvation in a cult.
But we’ve found one you’ll want to join: Cult Gaia, a new line of wired pseudo-turbans and flowered crowns that will deliver you from your next bad hair day.
Recent FIT grad Jasmin Larian, who made hair ornaments for free-spirited friends at school, roots out vintage fabrics and dresses here, online, and in L.A. (read: patterns are extremely limited). Taking her inspiration from old-school Hollywood babes, she leans toward polka dots for their retro, romantic appeal.
Because Larian fits each piece with heavy-duty wire, her toppers are easier to affix to your head than a classic head scarf. Simply wrap one around your noggin, maneuver the ends as you would a twisty tie, and fashion them into a knot, bunny ears, or abstract fascinator.
That’s the only initiation rite you’ll need.
Available at Albertine, 13 Christopher Street, between Greenwich Avenue and Waverly Place (212-924-8515 or albertine-nyc.com); online at cultgaia.com, $75-$150.
