Dear Diary,
Our heart has officially melted.
Feb. 24: We visit Morris Grilled Cheese chef/owner/musician Michael Jacober (Franny’s, Insieme) and find ourselves drawn to mountains of Saxelby and Murray’s on thickly cut, buttered Orwasher’s bread.
Feb. 25: Totally besandwiched, we realize more MGC is still months away and must take a personal day. How long does it take to convert an NYPD paddy wagon?
Mar. 1: Daydream about Gouda with smoky jowl bacon and herbs. Oozing cheddar with stewed mushrooms and thyme calls to us in the night.
Mar. 19: We implore Jacober — who is playing SXSW — to concentrate on reuniting us with sweet ricotta, dark maple syrup, and honey sammies.
May 1: Deliverance. MGC debuts as a stand at Sunday’s New Amsterdam Market with six rotating varieties plus dipping soups. The first ten customers to say, “Give me a free sandwich,” will get one. Truck scheduled to launch in late May.
xoxo,
