In your personal driving manual, anything above 57th Avenue warrants an immediate U-turn.
But consider a detour to the Kendall Book Exchange, a new secondhand swap shop for interesting titles.
After spotting a closed retail space filled with used books, Eunice Rodriguez made an offer and schlepped the eclectic tomes to her nearby natural-herbs tea shop.
The 9,000-plus titles are now categorized and stacked high on white shelves in a back room. Everything from The Biker Cookbook to Jhumpa Lahiri’s The Namesake is available for purchase at 50 percent off the publisher’s price. You can also trade in your old, beloved books for store credit (half the original cost).
Grab a good read and a floor cushion, a seat on the outdoor patio, or a stool near the (Wi-Fi accessible) tea bar.
And park yourself for a while.
