Thankfully, the newest competitor, The Cupcake Chef, offers a healthy alternative. The Delray-based baker whips up low-fat treats that are both gluten and sugar free. But don’t fret, they’re still scrumptious.
The cupcakes all contain flaxseed (yum, omega), tofu, or soy, and a natural sugar replacement. Flavors include red velvet, vanilla bean, chai tea, and espresso chocolate. The healthy sweets are done up as prettily as their fatty counterparts, can be ordered as regular or mini size, and arrive in biodegradable, recyclable packaging.
Plus, 5 percent of all proceeds goes to The Caring Kitchen, providing hot meals for the homeless.
