Miami & the Beaches Environmental Film Festival Debuts
What: The city’s first-ever eco-conscious movie fest focuses on our (often abusive) relationship with Mother Earth.
Why: A free screening on the side of the New World Center building; a student film competition; and flicks such as Mother: Caring for 7 Billion, Revenge of the Electric Car, and The Light Bulb Conspiracy.

Wynwood Art Fair Launches
What: A long row of booths occupied by artists, galleries, and museums takes over Northwest 6th Avenue during the first-time, three-day festival.
Why: Street art performances, working artists studios, and live music. Proceeds benefit Lotus House, a nonprofit that aids local homeless women and children.
When: Fri.-Sun., 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

IronFlower Fitness One-Year Anniversary
What: Get pumped for a pink-carpet birthday party at the ladies-only wellness center.

The Heavy Pets Record Release Party
What: The local rock band returns home from its East Coast tour to release a third studio album, Swim Out Past the Sun.
Why: Blending R&B, jazz-funk, and reggae fusion with rock and roll, the group will begin acoustically before building to its full electric potential.

Breakfast at Peacock Garden Cafe
What: The charming Coconut Grove restaurant introduces a seasonally inspired brunch.
Why: Garden eggs Benedict (whole wheat English muffins topped with poached eggs, Black Forest ham, and a special Peacock sauce of yellow tomatoes and peppers) and whole wheat pancakes with raspberry compote.
When: The weather is patio appropriate.
