Quilting is not your usual territory.
But thanks to B/Perrino Quilts, a collection of modern baby blankets that takes the prairie out of batting and cotton, you may discover you’ve got a bit of that pioneer spirit.
Artist Barbara Perrino’s coverlets turn the traditional art of quilting on its head with abstract designs and unexpected color combinations. The meticulously crafted blankets range from cozy and muted (hello, nap time) to modern and bright (the perfect showpiece for a nursery wall) and never seem like something from Grandma’s attic.
Each cuddly wrap is individually pieced and quilted, so no two are alike. Perrino has a few ready for purchase on Etsy, or you can ask her to make one just for your little snoozer.
That’s sew nice.
Available online at etsy.com, $110. For custom orders, email info@bperrino.com, $25 an hour. To see styles, go to bperrino.com.
