At some unfortunate moment, your apartment became the place where DIY projects go to die. (R.I.P. wilted windowsill garden and sequin wall swag.)
Providing clarity to amateur designers is newly opened home decor boutique Violetas.
Owner Patricia Anton Himmel mixes old (antique tea sets, Venetian mirrors) with new (coral candle holders, bold floral pillows) and high-end (Baccarat chandelier) with the affordable (porcelain bird, salt and pepper shakers, mirror frames, desk accessories). The Ecuador native has personally selected every object — found either while traveling or rifling through magazines and the Interweb.
Her eclectic shop occupies a narrow, magazine shoot-ready space with curated items thoughtfully arranged on unusual furnishings like a Bovary dining table or custom-designed wall shelves.
In other words, it’s a resurrection.
