We’d never challenge her in the birthday cake or scraped knee departments, but your mom is not the denim authority. (The extra-long fly gave her away.)
But this time, Mother — as in the new jeans line by Lela Tillem, formerly of Citizens of Humanity, and Tim Kaeding, formerly of Seven for All Mankind — knows best.
Made with soft, perfectly worn-in denim and twill, the basic styles have more than their fair share of flair. The sophisticated, ’70s-inspired Drama channels Jerry Hall, while a slouchier trouser, The Wilder, is made for Penny Lane. The Runaway baby bell might read Dazed and Confused, but it’s a clear winner.
Wide-leg styles are all over for spring, but if you’re still searching for a skinny, try The Looker, a streamlined style with plenty of stretch, or slim-cut pant/boyfriend jean hybrid The Skinny, Not Skinny.
Mum’s the word.
Available at Curve, 154 North Robertson Boulevard, between Beverly Boulevard and West Third Street, West Hollywood (310-360-8008). To see styles, go to motherdenim.com, $155-$242.
