Behold the 405: the dividing line between the Westside and rows of fantastically informal restaurants that give Eastsiders bragging rights.
But now, it’s the route to Hostaria del Piccolo, the latest venture from Vittorio Viotti and chef Bobo of Venice’s famed Piccolo that’s bringing all the good citizens of Los Angeles together in Santa Monica.
The modern-rustic restaurant gives the hood a casual-yet-upscale pizza joint (a bar with a to-go area, booths made from reclaimed barn wood, and a quiet outdoor patio). Settle in for more than 30 pizza combos, from traditional margherita and Neapolitan to seared ahi and fresh veggies.
If you’re ready to explore, there’s a pie loaded with ketchup and fries and one topped with Nutella and banana for dessert. And it’s okay to order from the kids’ menu.
Go ahead and cross that line.
