We’ve omed. We’ve shantied. We’ve spun, lunged, crunched, walked, run, danced, stepped, climbed, clowned, and even hooped. But until the other day, we’d never Grace Somatomorphic Techniqued (it goes by GST). And we’re seriously glad we did.
Created by Anna Rahe, the dynamic exercise program defines five movement systems (the spine, breath, muscles, bones, and fascia) and reconnects and reactivates them through moves and equipment (springs, bars, straps) designed to change your body’s size (shrink) and shape (long, lean), and the way you move, for good.
Start with one-on-one sessions or jump into a group class at the new airy Hollywood space. Be prepared for a little yoga-like stretching, a lot of Pilates-ish resistance training, and a mix of rigorous, fluid, dancey — but totally doable — choreography. Understanding how it all comes together is like a workout for your brain.
