Your next big fat Greek dinner: Cleo. The latest from SBE, the boho-chic Mediterranean restaurant (pictured) is now slinging small plates, traditional tapas, bites from the raw bar, and colorful cocktails inside Hollywood’s just-opened Redbury hotel.
Under lofty ceilings, parties of two or ten can comfortably dig into chef Daniel Elmaleh’s menu of baba ghanoush and muhammara dip (red peppers and pomegranate molasses), then share oven-fired pinchos (kabobs) of lamb kefta or pork belly and morcilla de cebolla (Spanish-style blood sausage). Round things out with grilled octopus, followed by palmfuls of flash-fried Brussels sprouts and flatbreads.
Cool your heated palate with libations like the Cleopatra VII (a heavenly mix of pear vodka, Cointreau, mango puree, and white cranberry juice) or Aspasia (Junmai sake, St. Germain, prosecco, lime and orange juices). But it’s the Queen’s Dream of Licor 43 (rosemary, lime juice, and whipped cream, with a crushed graham cracker rim) paired with the toffee date pudding that make it obvious you’ve gotten yourself into one fine mezze.
