Last time you went on vacation, all you brought back was a stinking T-shirt.
When L.A. caterers Tehra Thorp and Jamie Wheeler returned from a week in Cartagena, they brought back a new business: Ceviche & Co.
Inspired by the neighborhood cevicheria across from their hotel, Wheeler (an associate producer) and Thorp (a chef who has done stints with Cook’s Library and Cecconi’s) put a California spin on the Colombian mainstay: peach and shrimp with habanero, cilantro, lemon, spicy pepitas, and black sesame; and butter-poached Dungeness crab with grapefruit, Thai chile, micro basil, and heirloom green tomato and avocado salsa.
Available by special order, appetizers, tapas, and family-style portions elevate the spread at any get-together. With a little notice, the duo builds full-on feasts incorporating West African, Spanish, and Caribbean cuisines.
Keep an eye on the company’s Facebook page and newsletter for pop-up dinners and tastings.
They’re duty-free dining at its finest.
