Boy meets girl. Girl raids boy’s closet. It’s a tale as old as the button-down.
Thanks to Im Jung Jung, the sartorial mating ritual might soon fall by the wayside.
The L.A. designer, who cut her teeth at Tse New York, BCBG, and Cynthia Rowley, is striking out on her own with women’s wear label Theonne. In stores this week (and available online November 18), the collection takes cues from the men’s department with drapey silhouettes and a deconstructed, preppy insouciance (think Brooks Brothers on Xanax).
Mixing sass and slouch, Jung Jung tailors to flatter feminine curves while leaving a little to the imagination and cuts select pieces to smaller measurements for a sophisticated play of wardrobe proportions.
Fall channels Lauren Hutton with roomy slacks, fine-gauge merino wools, and textured knits that’ll make you weak in the knees.
Spring promises lightweight knitwear (Jung’s specialty) and a palette of neon purple and canary yellow.
Available at Market, 11620 Barrington Court, at Barrington Walk, Brentwood (310-471-3408); Magnolia, 23675 Calabasas Road, at Park Granada, Calabasas (818-224-4771), $108 and up. To see styles, go to theonne.com.
