The It bag is practically extinct. We’re hunting for a tote that speaks to our individuality (a Me bag, if you will).
New Santa Monica handbag boutique Arm Candy specializes in just such an animal. Owner Lynn Plummer herds a revolving inventory of unusual, handcrafted pieces by established and emerging indie labels, putting special emphasis on local designers like Julie K. and A. Tunney.
Species currently in captivity range from Lui Antinous’s sleekly curvilinear lambskin hobos to Clara Kasavina’s Swarovski-studded clutches to Michelle Monroe’s iridescent ostrich feather satchels.
A proponent of the “if we don’t have it, we’ll make it” ethos, Plummer frequently works as a mediator between customers and designers to devise one-of-kind creations. Color, material, hardware, and even strap length are all open season.
They’re bags that really go in for the kill.
