For the residents of WeHo, the dog days aren’t over, they’re just beginning: The Fat Dog gastropub opens today.
The resto’s formula is something to bark about: upscale comfort food, a weekly rotating tap, and an inspired cocktail menu (Key lime pug martini, anyone?). Like the original Montrose location, the Fairfax outpost follows a something-for-everyone ethos. Brews range from the esoteric to Coors Light, and you can nibble on anything from Swedish meatballs to soy chorizo risotto to a croque madame.
Comfy surroundings get tails wagging, with clusters of big booths; flat-screen TVs tuned to ESPN; oil paintings of Luther, owners Susann and Richard Mandeville’s English bulldog, flanking the walls; and a sizable outdoor patio where Fido is more than welcome.
We give it a canine out of ten.
