Call us snobs, but when it comes to chocolate, we’re more about quality than Quality Streets.
No wonder our newest sweet fix supplier, 40point5, is an under-the-radar, artisan chocolaterie tucked behind Kensington High Street. Pastry chef Jonathan Deddis (Cocomaya) makes everything on site using cocoa beans sourced from South America (they’re softer — and smoother — because they grow so close to the equator).
We’re crazy for Wild Mint (homemade After Eights); Roche (a Ferrero Rocher upgrade with milk chocolate praline rolled in dark chocolate and organic cornflakes); and the pistachio, saffron and olive oil treats.
Individually baked panettone butter pudding and tiramisu are also up for grabs, alongside gluten-free brownies and Sicilian lemon and polenta cake that taste better than the real thing.
We expected nothing less.
