When it comes to meals on wheels, Americans take the cake in the mobile food movement. Here in England, we take tea.
Lulabelle’s, the latest addition to London’s growing stable of street food vans, serves vintage-style teas from a charming kitchen inside a 1959 VW camper van. Owner Cathy McConaghy will park in any garden/driveway to serve cakes, sandwiches, muffins and more along with pretty vintage cups and saucers filled with hot tea (or coffee, if you prefer). Old-fashioned sugar lumps and antique cutlery make everything sweeter.
On the menu: chocolate Guinness cake, spicy apple muffins, toffee brownies and rocky road slabs, to name a few. Savoury finger sandwiches, Scotch eggs, sausage rolls and quiches are also worth a nibble.
Prepare to be moved.
