Lucky Scent manager Steven Gontarski smells smells all day. We put his discerning sniffer to use and asked him to describe a few of his favorite scents.
Of Peau de Peche he said: “It combines the scent of peach with floral notes without becoming simple or cartoonish. It’s a gorgeous, transparent fragrance that shimmers with the coolness of fresh water yet remains complex and present in a persistent, subdued manner.”
Available at luckyscent.com, $115.
“A spicy lily: elegant and formal yet inviting,” Gontarski says.
Available at luckyscent.com, $185.
“There are many myths about this fragrance. It’s hardly detectable on paper. When sprayed on a person, the scent comes and goes in waves and garners more compliments than any other fragrance. Because of its subtle efficacy, many people claim that Molecule 01 works on a pheromonal level,” Gontarski says.
Available at luckyscent.com, $135.
“A scent trigger can create an impossibly detailed impression of a moment from long ago, as though no time has passed at all. At the Beach 1966 recalls lying in the sun, glistening with Coppertone, basking in the lazy days of summer vacation,” Gontarski says.
Available at luckyscent.com, $70.
“Wafts of Japanese incense burned during holy ceremonies mingle with the cedar soaking tubs used in bathing rituals,” Gontarski says.
Available at luckyscent.com, $80.
“It captures the warmth of tobacco leaves sweetened with honeyed fruit, almond, and vanilla. Deep, rich, sexy, and delicious,” Gontarski says.
Available at luckyscent.com, $225.
“It’s named after the address of the fashion house in Milan. It has an effervescent, feminine wood fragrance. This perfume has a large, faithful following around the world based on word-of-mouth recommendation alone,” Gontarski says.
Available at luckyscent.com, $90.
