Two signs your playroom is bursting at the seams: There’s a traffic jam on your train table and Barbie has hired a closet consultant.
Clearly, something has to give — and we think it should be your kids.
The Giving Effect, a new website that connects donors with community-based organizations is looking for families (like yours) to donate gently used items.
Bears on Patrol, in Carrollton, Georgia, is collecting stuffed animals for kids in crisis situations. Jacob’s Heart, in Freedom, California, is amassing art supplies, toys, and games for kids with cancer. And those are just two examples of more than 1,000 charities looking for everything from cleaning supplies and books to clothing.
Find a local participant and take the kids to drop off goods in person or involve them in boxing and shipping items to their new homes.
Either way, you’ll teach a valuable lesson: It’s as important to give as it is to get.
