It has been nearly three days. The vessel is ready to sail, but the crew is hysterical from the Saltie air.
They refuse to leave this tiny new bakery, for they found their treasured lunch. The three sirens running the place (all with an enticing Marlow & Sons background) have entranced them with the Longshoreman (Israeli meatballs, herbs, yogurt), Ships Biscuit (soft scrambled eggs and ricotta), and The Scuttlebutt (tomato, hard-boiled egg, feta, olives, capers) — piled high on homemade focaccia and naan.
They swear like sailors for The Captain’s Daughter (sardines, pickled egg, salsa verde) and salty caramel ice cream.
An attempt to move these landlubbers onward with the journey has resulted in mutiny! Yours truly has been turned adrift with only lavender short bread and a goat cheese tart for breakfast.
Once this captain finds home, every effort at a Clean Slate (pickled veggies, hummus, and miso paste) will be made.
