Things that are better left digital: your spam folder’s contents, most OkCupid matches, and this video.
What’s not: A Startup Store, now open on a very real corner in Chelsea. It’s stocked with products from five NYC-based online fledglings.
Equal parts gallery and shop, the first iteration — dubbed Beta — is open until January 12. Come February, and every subsequent four to six weeks, the space will shutter, reinvent, and reopen.
For now, pick up Birchbox’s beauty products, contemporary art courtesy of Artspace, and practical gadgets (flexible power strips, collapsible hangers) from Quirky. Stuff stockings with affordable sparklers from BaubleBar and a Joor-curated selection of purses and watches. Of a Kind bow ties and Satya Twena hats top off the collection.
The space will also host events like wine-fueled Joor trunk shows this weekend and Skillshare learning sessions in the future.
This reality doesn’t bite.
A Startup Store, 144 Tenth Avenue, at 19th Street (astartupstore.com). Joor trunk shows, Saturday, noon-7 p.m.
