When we say “Tightrope,” you think Barnum & Bailey. When we say “The Suburbs,” your mind goes to Plano.
Sounds like it’s time for someone to sign up for DJ Lucy Wrubel’s Mix of the Month.
The popular Dallas DJ just launched an e-mail delivering a diverse and always-interesting playlist to your in-box monthly. Each one includes a wide range of styles, from pop princesses Katy and Kylie to global artists just breaking onto the scene (we’d never heard of Amadou & Mariam until she introduced us) to Wrubel’s all-time favorites like Phoenix, Spoon, and Bob Sinclar.
The playlists riff on their month of publication. For February, she’s chosen a handful of not-so-obvious love songs (“Question,” by Old 97’s; “Amor,” by Ben E. King), as well as antilove tracks (“Rolling in the Deep,” by Adele) “for those down on Hallmark,” she says.
A subscription costs $144 and includes a dozen mixes plus extras.
So when we say “awesome,” your friends will think “you.”
