It’s nearly Cinco de Mayo, and lest we remind you, you plus margarita equals shameful acts never to speak of again.
James Beard Award-winning author Joanne Weir plus margarita? That equals Copita Tequileria y Comida, a cozy Mexican joint opening tomorrow in Sausalito.
Weir, inspired by a margarita-making challenge, transforms her adoration for Mexican cooking into seasonal dishes and a stacked bar. The waterfront spot opens to the sidewalk (with seating for twelve), and has bright white and orange walls, a glass-tiled back-lit bar, and a Mexican tiled rostizador (wood-fired rotisserie oven).
Rotisserie chicken (seasoned with chile guajillo), 24-hour carnitas, and tasty tacos (beer-battered fish and wild mushroom) sum up the standouts, while small plates and ceviches factor in the organic garden’s bounty.
Eighty-plus blue agave tequilas, mezcales, and tequila cocktails increase the fun quotient exponentially.
Should you go?
You do the math.
