You normally take your tea from a fountain or vodka bottle.
Shake things up at Royal Sixty.
The Design District bistro, owned by Dallas caterer Wendy Krispin, quietly lit its ovens last fall and just introduced a seated tea service available by reservation.
Call ahead to book the old-school British custom, which comes in a standard or seasonal menu. Both options offer four teas, a starter, five or so savory mini sandwiches, and a handful of desserts served on a pretty three-tier platter.
Krispin keeps most of the dishes traditionally English (dill cream cheese and cucumber on white; apple-cranberry scones) but tips her chef’s hat to Texas (pimento cheese on white; the pecan tarts). The winter menu (available through February) includes curried carrot bisque, deviled egg salad on rye, and plum spice cake alongside teas like smoky Earl Grey and orange caramel rooibos.
We’ll raise a pinkie to that.
