You’ve been planning a Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired trip to Oak Park since the Bush administration. Now there’s an incentive: Muse.
The shop is high on design and low on prices, thanks to owner Heather Anderson. From the inviting window display (hanging birdies and branch-embossed wallpaper) to retro-looking drawings done by her mom, the boutique oozes charm. There’s a dude room in the back, tricked out with comfy chairs and a flat-screen.
Anderson’s got taste to burn, as evidenced by the well-curated selection of clothes and accessories: Lauren Moffatt retro minidresses; funky vegan shoes ($52-$85) from Schubar; vintage-chic Erica Weiner jewelry sweetly dangling from pieces of bright green moss; kicky, oversize printed cotton scarves from Leigh & Luca; and little hats with big attitude from DeLux.
As a nod to the store’s name, framed descriptions of designers hang on the walls — not that you’ll need any inspiration.
Muse, 106 North Marion Street, Oak Park (708-948-7052 or museoakpark.com).
