There’s a new West Town clothing and housewares shop that just might save your friendship. Let us explain.
You and a pal are out shopping. You try something on and come out for her to see. She hates it and makes a scene. Humiliation central.
At Seek Vintage, there are windows cut into the dressing rooms, so your friend can just pop her head in and give you her opinion. The brilliant minds behind Seek are best friends Chris Hunt and Audra Yeomans, who hoarded ten years’ worth of goods before setting up shop.
Notables include a huge men’s section, vintage Haeger planters (sold with the greenery!), drink caddies, suede clutches, sequined blouses, suitcases, retro fans, shoes galore, costume jewelry, Montgomery Ward jackets, silk nighties, and clocks.
And when you buy, Seek packages your purchases in handmade album cover boxes — a friendly gesture.
Seek Vintage Wares & Apparel, 1432 West Chicago Avenue, at Bishop Street (312-526-3164). Grand opening party, Saturday, 4-8 p.m.
