Things you accumulate on road trips: Starbucks cups.
Things Dion Antic stockpiles on road trips: buffalo heads.
We’d rather travel with him. Luckily, Antic’s new shop, Roadtrip, is right here in Bucktown. His wacky storefront stocks vintage curiosities picked up over the years: a rusty truck grill, a tricycle with a Bakelite seat, worn leather camera bags, colorful suitcases. After a recent trip to Iowa, he even constructed a barn wood wall and hung old-school farm tools on it.
Don’t need a hoe? Pick up housewarming gifts (like vintage barware), typewriters, neon letters, and light fixtures. Yes, the buffalo head is for sale. New finds are added weekly, so there’s always something to discover.
The shining star: a 1940s sideshow banner from circus artist Snap Wyatt. It requires a twenty-foot wall to display.
And makes a mighty fine showpiece for your next collection.
